A sweet testimony from where I preached on Sunday Feb 7th, morning and evening, at Canaan Baptist Church (Pastor Rev. Billy Ingram) in Covington, Ga. There truly was a holy hush throughout the assembly as the glory of the Lord filled the auditorium.
"And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the Lord, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel." Is 45:3
This verse was shared with us yesterday morning, by the preacher who ministered to us: Curtis Turner. Both he and his wife, Pam, ministered to us last night in so many ways.
He gave powerful testimony and ministry of the word from the pulpit. Her warm and gracious support was evident from where she sat. And speaking with them both after the morning and evening services was an extension of their help to us. They are seasoned veterans of the faith and the ministry. With extraordinary physical challenges he has faced, the fact that he is alive at all is an incredible miracle. The fact that he is preaching AND singing is a miracle. He is contracted to write a book, and I look forward to it very much. I hope Mrs. Turner will have a place in it as well, though I'm sure there is so much that she could write a book herself! But there are only so many hours in a day . . . .
Though the scripture above was not the text he preached from, it was the crux of his testimony. God's presence was so strong. There was a time where you literally could have heard a pin drop. Not a sniff or a cough. Not a click of a pen or pages turning. Not a child's sound or a cell phone's beep.
Silence.
Stillness.
In a room that size, with that many people of all ages - that is rare. I could have stayed in that "place" for hours. The Lord hovered. Time stood still. What a visitation.
