In Christ
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. At the end of Romans 6:23, Paul adds five words that may seem like an unnecessary addition. However, without these five words, there is no gift of eternal life. So the verse ends, “… through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Why are these five words so important? Because eternal life is indeed a gift…but it is not completely free. That is true of every gift that has ever been given. While a gift costs nothing to the receiver, it always costs something to the giver. In the same way, eternal life is free to you and me because Jesus paid for it on the cross. Eternal life is only available in Christ Jesus our Lord. Jesus bought our spiritual life through His own physical death. On the cross, He suffered the spiritual death of being separated from God. That death belonged to sinners, but He suffered in our place. Do you understand how Jesus died? The Roman soldiers did not kill Jesus. They crucified Him, yes, but He gave up His own Spirit. “No one can take My life from Me. I lay it down of my own accord” (John 10:18). Our sin killed Jesus. He took what He didn’t deserve so that we might receive what we don’t deserve. We deserve death, but God desires life! In light of Christ’s sacrifice, each of us has a choice to make. We can refuse Jesus and die physically, spiritually, and eternally. Or, we can receive Jesus and live spiritually, physically, and eternally. The question is posed to the entire world. Now the Choice is in your lap. What choice will you make ? As a young person I made the choice to choose Christ Jesus! Besides, being taught at home, by God fearing, God Loving parents, I heard it taught in Sunday School, I heard it preached from the pulpit by my Pastor... but then there was a little song that we sang that also taught, even though a youngster, I was important to Jesus Christ: “Red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight, Jesus loves the little children of the world !” This is a song, that backed up what the Bible had taught. This song is not just a Black Lives Matter ! All lives matter ! You can try to remove enough statues, in order to try to change history, the Cross is One that cannot be removed. The cross though physically has probably rotted centuries ago, but it is a symbol that will forever stand, this History cannot be changed! Jesus died for ALL ! Regardless of your upbringing, regardless of where you were raised, regardless of the rung of the latter of society you're on, Jesus Loves You ! Choose Him, He’ll Change you! The choice is Eternally Heaven or Eternally Hell. “In Christ” (The choice) is Heaven ! “No Christ” (The Choice) is Hell ! You have to choose. You response may be, I just won’t choose. But that is a choice, and you have chosen “No Christ,” which equals, HELL. Please choose Him today, if you haven’t already. Dear Lord: I am so grateful that I chose you, when I was young and You made me yours! Now LORD, I pray that those who haven’t made You their choice, will do so, today, before it is eternally too late. Amen Looking Forward Titus 2:14 Dear Lord, help me to remember your generous sacrifice on the cross and help me feel your spiritual presence each day until I get to be in your physical presence when I pass from the earth to heaven. Amen. |
